  • This masterplan report was developed in accordance with the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) Masterplan Report guidelines to assist Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School with future direction for capital works and grant applications.

    Site Context

Our Lady of Lourdes School is located on a constrained site in Prahan, inner city Melbourne. Optimal use of land was the primary driver in the masterplan as well as improved accessibility over a sloping site, to integrate the 3 floor levels of the school buildings.

    Design Issues

    • Upgrading existing facilities based on input from the Principal, Teachers, Students, and School Community.

    • Explore options for increasing the school’s enrolment capacity by two to three General Learning Areas.

    • Improve accessibility across the campus.

    • Enhance the school’s Catholic identity.

    • Long Term Enrolment for 275 students (1½ streams).

    Masterplan Proposals

    1. New teaching and learning spaces that align with the school’s educational pedagogy, enrolment demand, and future projections.

    2. New Administration Hub to create a welcoming and positive entrance to the school campus.

    3. Providing a fit for purpose specialist teaching facility for STEM.

    4. Addressing accessibility issues by providing a DDA-compliant lift that will serve all three floor levels of the school buildings.

    5. Providing adequate and modernised student and staff amenities.

    6. Providing a new community hall for the school and larger school community.
