Bunurong Memorial Park, Dandenong

  • Harmer Architecture worked with the capital works team of the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, SMCT, on the new Community Pavilion at Bunurong Memorial Park (BMP) in Dandenong South.

The Park extends from its main frontage on Frankston Dandenong road to the Eastlink Freeway. The pavilion will be located in new memorial areas in the park that are largely devoted to burials for the Muslim community.

The Pavilion is a weather protected space for a variety of community gatherings, under a circular roof, with toilets and Wudu ritual washing facilities.

Off white honed concrete block walls curve out into the landscape to frame the gathering space and provide wind protection. The circular roof, supported by four columns clad in blue ceramic tiles, appear to float over the curved walls underneath.

    Construction was completed early 2025
