Official opening of The Atrium of Holy Angels Mausoleum

The new Atrium of Holy Angels Mausoleum at Fawkner Memorial Park was formally opened by the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, his Grace, The Most Reverend Denis Hart on Friday April the 7th.

The GMCT Trust generously arranged the opening and blessing of the mausoleum and invited the many hundreds of people who have already purchased their crypts. Officiating at the opening in addition to the Archbishop where the Hon Gabrielle Williams MP Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Rev. Vito Pegolo CS assisting the Archbishop, Geoff Mabbett Chair of the GMCT Trust, and Jacqui Weatherill, CEO of the GMCT Trust. Also attending were the GMCT staff involved and including Pelagia Markogiannakis, Director Strategic Planning & Infrastructure and Ian Robertson, Manager, Planning & Design, staff of Harris HMC and members of the Harmer Architecture team including Philip Harmer, Design Director and Andrew Briant, Associate / Project Architect.

This mausoleum is the fourth stage of Harmer Architecture’s Holy Angels Mausoleum complex which was commenced in 1997 and is the largest community mausoleum in Australia and provides a burial place for over 6,800 people from Melbourne’s Italian Community.
